On July 28, 2024, a new meme coin called Neiro was launched on Solana. Neiro was based on Kabosu, the pet dog whose photo inspired the original meme coin, (DOGE). The announcement of Kabosu’s owner’s new pet, “Neiro,” prompted the launch of several NEIRO tokens on , competing against each other to replicate the success of DOGE. Within minutes of Neiro being launched on Solana, several Neiro copycats were launched on Ethereum, Base, and BNB chain. These Neiro deployments were not linked and were launched by different creators. Their motivation is to tap into other blockchain communities and new sources of liquidity.
This is an increasingly common trend for memecoins that creates confusion for users at best and scams users in the worst case. If there is a chain-abstracted memecoin creation platform like Printr, creators could quickly launch on all chains at once, uniting different blockchain communities and growing faster by tapping into many liquidity pools at once. Users would have also been able to conveniently discover and trade Neiro on a single consolidated platform.
